Sherryl was born September 24, 1949 in Scottsbluff to Elmer “Hoke” and Wilma (Jamison) Wilson. She attended Scottsbluff Public Schools and graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1967. She then attended Nebraska Western College and graduated with an Associates of Arts Degree in 1969.
Sherryl was a senior in high school when she began working for the United Telephone Company as an operator. She married Robert A. Green in 1972 and to this union their children, Brandi and Nicole, were born. They later divorced.
Sherryl continued to work for the telephone company in various positions for several years until 1997 when operations were depleted in Scottsbluff.
She began working at the City of Scottsbluff in 1999 as a utility clerk. She then later worked in the accounting department. She retired in 2015 after being with the city for 16 years.
Sherryl was a beautiful person inside and out. She was full of life and always had a smile on her face. She was loving, caring, genuine, patient and kind. She had the biggest heart anyone could have. Sherryl always put her family first. She cared for her mother for many years after the passing of her father. Sherryl enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, sisters, family and friends. She loved watching and following her granddaughter at many sporting events. She always enjoyed family gatherings, going to the movies, crocheting, gardening, reading and watching Husker football and the Broncos.
Although she battled breast cancer twice in the last several years, that didn’t get her down. Sherryl was definitely a fighter. She was strong willed and never asked, “Why me?”. Even though she had several obstacles thrown at her in the last four months, she still fought with every ounce she had left till the end. Sherryl will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Sherryl is survived by her daughters, Brandi Green of Morrill and Nicole (Paul) Aguallo of Gering; grandchildren, Nicholas of Wright, WY, Justin (Jennifer) of Kearney, and Kiara and Kolton of Gering; mother, Wilma Wilson of Scottsbluff; sisters, Karen West of Scottsbluff, and Tami (Mike) Leis also of Scottsbluff; many nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends and her beloved dog, Zoe.
Sherryl was preceded in death by her father, Elmer “Hoke” Wilson; sister, Mavis; brother, Galen; her maternal and paternal grandparents; and brother-in-law, Milton West.
