Obituary for Alex Rahmig

Alex  Rahmig
Alex “Whitey” Rahmig, 84, of Mitchell, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at his home with his family by his side. Abiding by his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. His memorial service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Jones Mortuary in Mitchell with Pastor Ron Nuss-Warren officiating. A memorial dinner will be held immediately following at the Mitchell American Legion. Inurnment will be at Mitchell City Cemetery at a later date. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of any flowers, memorials in Alex’s honor be made in care of the Festival of Hope.

Alex was born July 11, 1932 in Haig, NE to Henry and Anna Marie (Kissler) Rahmig. He married Bonnie French on July 28, 1955 at Harrisburg and from this union 3 daughters and 1 son was born. Alex and his family moved to Mitchell in 1975.

He worked for AG and other odd jobs until 1966 when he went to work for Wilford DeBoer for 8 years before purchasing Bill’s Implement in 1974. In 1977 he sold Bill’s Implement and remained working there for 6 months before opening his own tractor repair and paint shop. He enjoyed polka dancing, boxing, bowling, and time spent with family.

He is survived by daughters Geraldine Nauenburg of Mitchell, Sandra Kay Rahmig of Arlington, TX and Brenda Strauch of Scottsbluff; son Timothy (Kathy) Rahmig of Norfolk, NE; brother Reinhardt “Reiny” Rahmig; grandchildren Chris and Ryan Nauenburg, Carina (Jorge) Baez, Lora (Kerry) Hackett, Aaron Rahming, Kortney (Derek) Shultz, and Jonathan and Andrew Rahmig; 20 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

His parents, wife Bonnie, 8 half-brothers and 10 half-sisters preceded him in death.
