Harvey Lee Herman, 80, of Scottsbluff, died Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. His funeral service will be held at 10am on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff with Pastor Dale Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Mitchell City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 pm on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the funeral home. He was born on January 23, 1936 to George and Helene (Schmidt) Herman in Huntley, Wyoming. He attended schools in both Wyoming and Nebraska. Shortly after finishing school, he worked on the family farm with his parents. After farming he worked as a truck driver for various construction companies around the Western Nebraska and Eastern Wyoming area, including Simons and Reed Construction in Cheyenne. Ultimately, he and his father started Herman Trucking where he was self-employed for several decades.

Harvey married Ilene L. Wyland on September 16, 1977 in Scottsbluff and the two settled in the Mitchell area. He and Ilene enjoyed raising and pampering Boston Terriers together. He enjoyed visiting with friends, watching sports and teasing his nieces and nephews. Harvey always had a smile on his face and was in a fun-loving mood. His smile and demeanor were contagious; there wasn’t a dull moment if he was in the room. Harvey was a special and kind soul, always seeing the best in people.

He is survived by his brother George (Judy) Herman of Gering, brother-in-law Richard Hoevet of Scottsbluff, nephew Doug (Jennifer) Hoevet of Scottsbluff, nephew Rod (Cara) Hoevet of St Louis, Missouri, niece Jody (Greg) Ferguson of Gering, niece Holly Herman of Gering, as well as numerous great nieces, great nephews and great-great nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister Lorraine Hoevet, brother-in-law Delbert Wyland and nephew Jeremy Herman.
