He was born November 16, 1930 to Mary Smith Shadegg and John Shadegg on the family farm. After serving in the Korean War, he and his brother Bill purchased a farm in Mitchell. Together they farmed for over 40 years. After a brief retirement, during which he traveled, Fred purchased and rehabilitated a farm in Bayard. After selling this farm, he returned to farming with his brother.
Fred loved all dogs, especially his poodles Dino and Joe. In his free time he enjoyed playing cards with friends, watching sports and MMA on television.
He is survived by his special nieces, Tamara Dawson, Ianthe Shadegg, Melanie Schurman, Willa Shadegg and Valerie Krueger, the daughters of his brother Bill. They referred to him simply as Uncle. He is also survived by his sisters Avis Browning and Barbara Brown and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Jack and Bill.
The family wishes to thank the staff at The Village, Regional West Medical Center and Heritage Skilled Nursing Facility, as well as Dr. Leconte and Dr. Beehler for the excellent care given to Fred.
