Claudette Shapland, 78, of Scottsbluff, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the Western Nebraska Veteran’s Home. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 10, at the Western Nebraska Veteran’s Home Chapel in Scottsbluff. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place in accordance with her wishes. A private burial will be held at a later date at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to the family.
Claudette was born June 19, 1938 to Claud and Genevieve (Casler) Butts in Grand Island. She married Ronald Shapland on December 9, 1955. Together they had four children: Lyle, Sabrina, Debra and Corena.
Claudette worked as a cook in the Scottsbluff-Gering area throughout her life. She was an active member of the Eagles F.O.E. #2998 for many years.
Survivors include her children, Lyle (Jessie), Sabrina, Debra and Corena (Keith); nine grandchildren, Tonya Claussen, Troy (Allison) Claussen, Eddie (Krissy) Shapland, Todd (Michelle) Shapland, Andrew (Jill) Lehmkuhl, Joe Judd, Larry (Chandra) Judd, Tami (Wayne) Hardin and Lakotta Pritchard; 16 great grandchildren; and brothers, Robert and Jimmy (Connie) Butts.
Claudette was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald Shapland in 2012; one sister; and two brothers.
